The chairperson of National Youth council has called on the youths to be innovative and creative in order to improve their living standards.
“The most important thing is that young people should take the responsibility of starting a business however small it is”. Mr Jacob Eyeru said during the youth symposium to commemorate international youth day organized by Kampala capital city authority in partnership with National youth advocacy platform, Ngabo youth friendly service and other partners yesterday.
Mr Eyeru who represented minister in charge of youth and children affairs. Dr. Balaam Baruhagala, further advised young people to utilize the resources government provide for them to start up business initiatives for themselves.
In the same way, Zalwango Evelyn, the coordinator of National Youth Advocacy forum, emphasized that, “Youth being the majority in the country. If they remain unemployed, it poses a very huge risk in the communities.”
The Advocacy Officer at Refugee-led Organisations Network of Uganda Arou Kuol, asked the government to support refugees as well so as their living standards are improved.
Iduma Ali, programs manager for Balimwezo Community Foundation, which is a member of the youth advocacy platform, asked the government to consider giving tax holidays of six to one-year periods to all youth start-up businesses.
The Youth symposium was organized under the theme “Development for enhancement of Youth Opportunities attracted severally youth from Kampala city divisions”
