We are not the organizers of 23rd March – NUP’s Kyagulanyi

Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi wine the Principal of National Unity Platform (NUP) has dismissed rumors claiming that its their Political Party behind the forthcoming 23rd July March to Parliament.

“For the record, the 23rd July #March2Parliament protests are not organized by @NUP_Ug But we support them with all our might because we are #PeoplePower and we absolutely believe in the Power of the People. We support every effort to protest against injustice, corruption and misrule.” Reads part of  Kyagulanyi’s tweet

He added that the plans by the regime to clamp down and make it look like an NUP initiative is meant to weaken it because it will appear like a partisan matter.

“ The #AntiCorruptionProtests as we know them are organized by the young people of Uganda regardless of their age, religion, tribe or political affiliation! The criminal regime and its antics will certainly fail!! “

On Monday morning, Police working with other sister security agencies, sealed off NUP headquarters at Makerere-Kavule ahead of their intended weekly press briefing.

Later on , Police Spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke on addressing press at Police headquarters in Naguru revealed that the siege was for security reasons since NUP had invited all its supporters who couldn’t fit in such a small space.
