KAMPALA, Uganda — Victoria University in Uganda has partnered with Somalia’s Himilo University to offer joint postgraduate programs, officials announced.
The partnership aims to provide world-class education to students in Somalia and the region, leveraging the academic resources of Victoria University and the local expertise and infrastructure of Himilo University.
“We are excited to collaborate with Himilo University to deliver high-quality postgraduate programs that meet the needs of the region,” said Prof. Lawrence Muganga, Vice Chancellor of Victoria University.
The joint programs will be offered in fields such as health sciences, science and technology, and humanities and social sciences. Specifically, the programs include:
Master of Science in Sexual and Reproductive Health, Master of Science in Global Health Nutrition, Master of Science in Health Service Management, and Master of Science in Public Health.
Additionally, the partnership will offer Master of Science in Big Data Analytics, Master of Science in Cyber Security, Master of Science in Computer Science, and Master of Science in Information Technology.
The humanities and social sciences programs include Master of Arts in Public Administration and Management, Master of Arts in Diplomacy & Global Studies, and Master of Educational Administration and Management.
Dr. Abdikarin Adan Hussein, Rector of Himilo University, said the partnership will provide students with access to internationally recognized programs while staying in Somalia.
“This partnership brings us closer to our goal of providing quality education that meets global standards,” Hussein said.
The partnership is expected to enhance academic collaboration and exchange between the two institutions, and contribute to the development of Somalia’s higher education sector.
