KAMPALA — Victoria University has confirmed the passing of its Council Chairman, Mr. Joram Kahenano.
In a statement, Victoria University Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga described Mr. Kahenano as a pillar of strength to the university, citing his visionary leadership and wisdom.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the sad news of the passing of our esteemed Chairman of Council, Mr. Joram Kahenano, who left us earlier today,” Dr. Muganga said.
Mr. Kahenano was a visionary leader and pillar of strength and wisdom for the university community, Dr. Muganga added.
“His unwavering dedication to Victoria University, his profound contributions to our growth, and his passionate commitment to our mission will forever be etched in our hearts. The warmth and guidance he provided have left an indelible mark on each of us,” Dr. Muganga noted.
The university community is coming together to honor Mr. Kahenano’s memory and provide support to one another during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements will be announced as more details become available.
Dr. Muganga urged the public and the university community to keep the Kahenano family in their thoughts and prayers during this profoundly difficult time.
Mr. Kahenano had an illustrious career, serving as a fellow of the Uganda Institute of Bankers and the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He worked at the Bank of Uganda for 36 years, holding various director positions.
These positions included Executive Director Administration, Executive Director Operations, Director Banking, Director Foreign Exchange, and Director Exchange Control.
Mr. Kahenano also served on several boards, including the Uganda Institute of Bankers, Makerere University, Mengo Hospital, Church of Uganda, and Uganda Christian University.
At the time of his passing, Mr. Kahenano was a trustee of Uganda Small Scale Industries and a Non-Executive Director at I&M Bank.
