Kampala, Uganda — The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has announced that it will undertake remedial works at the Mabira section along the Kampala-Jinja highway, effective Saturday, November 23, 2024.
The maintenance works, expected to be completed by December 7, 2024, aim to repair the damaged road surface, which has deteriorated over time. To facilitate the repairs, traffic will be restricted to one lane, and motorists are advised to exercise caution when using the highway.
Travel Advisory: Motorists planning to travel along the Kampala-Jinja highway are advised to expect disruptions and delays during the repair period. The authority recommends allowing extra time for journeys and considering alternative routes to minimize inconvenience.
To minimize disruptions, UNRA has recommended alternative routes for motorists. Light vehicle drivers can use the Mukono-Kyetume-Katosi-Kisoga-Nyenga/Njeru road, while drivers of light vehicles may also consider using the Njeru-Kayunga-Mukono/Kalagi-Gayaza route to Kampala.
The Traffic Police and project safety team will be on-site to assist road users and ensure their safety during the repair period.
According to UNRA, the maintenance works are essential to enhance the road’s surface condition, ensuring safety and comfort for all road users. While apologizing for any inconvenience caused, UNRA has urged motorists to cooperate with the authority to ensure the successful completion of the project.
