MBALE, Uganda — Unilever Uganda has launched its Royco Cube Ku String in the Eastern region with a lively event at Bugwere Market in Mbale, continuing its nationwide rollout of the new product. The initiative highlights Unilever’s commitment to bringing innovation to consumers and acknowledging their role in the brand’s development.
The Bugwere Market activation is the latest stop in Unilever’s national introduction of the Royco Cube Ku String, a convenient and affordable pack containing 12 individually wrapped seasoning cubes designed for everyday Ugandan cooking. Priced at 1,200 Ugandan shillings, the product offers affordability, prominent visibility, and portion control, making it suitable for both home cooks and small-scale retailers.
Speaking at the event, Grace Nandawula, Marketing Manager at Unilever Uganda, emphasized the importance of the region to the brand.
“We came to Bugwere Market because the people of Mbale and the Eastern region have always been at the heart of Royco’s story,” Nandawula said. “The launch of Royco Cube Ku String here is not just about introducing a new format—it’s about recognizing our customers, hearing their voices, and delivering solutions that match their everyday cooking needs. We are here on the ground to celebrate them and say ‘thank you’ for always choosing Royco.”
The Mbale market event featured live cooking demonstrations, product sampling, and interactions with local vendors and shoppers, creating an engaging market-day atmosphere. The new string-pack format of Royco is particularly well-suited for retail environments like Bugwere Market, where convenience, visibility, and price are key factors.
Nandawula added, “Royco has long been a trusted companion in Ugandan kitchens. With the Cube Ku String, we are blending our heritage with innovation to ensure every family, no matter where they live, can access and enjoy the same great taste, still fortified with iron & iodine. Coming to Mbale is part of our promise—to listen, to engage, and to grow with our communities.”
