KAMPALA– The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) has announced the appointment of four new District Kadhis following a rigorous selection process. The official communication, released late on Thursday, January 8, 2025, was signed by Sheikh Imran Abdunoor Ssali, the UMSC Secretary for Religious Affairs.
The appointments, made by His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, were based on the advice of the Majlis Al Ulama (College of Eminent Sheikhs). Sheikh Ramadhan Muhammad Museregu has been appointed for Butaleja Muslim District, Sheikh Huzaima Magumba for Bugweri Muslim District, Sheikh Abubakari Waiswa for Buyende Muslim District, and Sheikh Muhammad Yunusu Kibuuka for Kyegegwa Muslim District.
According to the UMSC, the new Kadhis were selected after successfully undergoing a comprehensive interview process, which included both oral and written assessments. These interviews were conducted by an Ad-hoc Committee of the Majlis Al Ulama.
Sheikh Ssali confirmed that the appointments were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the council’s leadership and governance at the district level. The newly appointed Kadhis are expected to play pivotal roles in guiding the Muslim community in their respective districts.
These appointments align with the UMSC’s commitment to ensuring effective leadership and service delivery across its administrative structure.
