Kampala, Uganda – The UK government has announced a new partnership with the RBM Partnership to End Malaria to boost efforts to combat malaria in Uganda and other African countries.
The £5 million programme aims to support Uganda and other countries in their efforts to control malaria, which remains a major public health challenge in the country.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), malaria is responsible for thousands of deaths in Uganda every year, mostly among children under the age of five and pregnant women.
The UK’s partnership with RBM is expected to support Uganda’s efforts to reduce malaria cases and deaths, particularly in high-risk areas.
British scientists have also played a key role in developing two new malaria vaccines, which have the potential to save millions of lives in Uganda and other African countries.
The UK has been a long-standing partner in Uganda’s efforts to combat malaria, providing significant funding to support malaria control efforts in the country.
This new partnership is expected to further strengthen UK-Uganda ties in the fight against malaria, and support Uganda’s efforts to achieve its malaria control targets.
