KAMPALA, Uganda — A Ugandan journalist has developed an artificial intelligence-powered news aggregator to combat climate change misinformation and provide accurate, real-time information to stakeholders.
Julius Kitone’s platform, JuliKitAi (ECOEYE AI), collects, curates and presents climate-related news in a streamlined, accessible format. The platform is designed for policymakers, researchers, businesses and the general public.
Kitone, an innovative thinker with a passion for climate justice, said his platform aims to empower decision-makers with the knowledge they need to address the climate crisis effectively.
“Misinformation is a major challenge in climate discourse,” Kitone said. “ECOEYE AI filters through the noise, presenting only factual and up-to-date information to help stakeholders make sound decisions.”
The platform uses natural language processing and machine learning to track, analyze and compile climate-related news from credible sources worldwide. It provides real-time updates on climate science, policy changes, green initiatives and environmental sustainability efforts.
JuliKitAi also features cross-platform accessibility, allowing users to access the platform through Google Search, web browsers and WhatsApp. The platform is designed for individuals, institutions and governments, making it a vital tool in international climate discussions.
Other key features of the platform include personalized and multilingual experiences, verified and transparent information, engaging and interactive content, sustainability-centric development and climate education and policy advocacy.
Kitone’s innovation comes as the world grapples with the worsening climate crisis. Uganda, like many other African countries, is particularly vulnerable to climate change, with rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns and increased frequency of extreme weather events.
“If we can ensure that climate information is accessible, reliable and actionable, we stand a much better chance of addressing the crisis before it’s too late,” Kitone said.
JuliKitAi is poised to revolutionize climate change information access, providing a beacon of hope for climate-conscious individuals, policymakers and industries worldwide.
