“To our scholars, I urge you to remain true to the principles that brought you here: curiosity, integrity, and a passion for making a positive impact,” Kirlew said. “Whether in public service, academia, business, or any other field, your contributions will shape the future of Uganda.”

The Chevening scholarship program, now in its 41st year, offers fully funded one-year master’s degrees at top UK universities. This year, 20 Ugandan scholars were selected.

The Commonwealth Scholarships, marking 65 years of existence, have benefited over 1,735 Ugandans to date. More than 16 Ugandan scholars were selected for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The farewell event brought together outgoing scholars, alumni from the Chevening Alumni Association, and key stakeholders from the Ministry of Education and Prudential, which has partnered with Chevening to sponsor a scholar for the second consecutive year.

The scholars will pursue studies in various fields at top UK universities, contributing to Uganda’s development in areas such as education, finance, and more.
