KAMPALA– Uganda has finalized preparations plans to host the 43rd conference for African Association of Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) scheduled to take place from 25th to 29th November 2024 , at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.
On addressing the press in Kampala on Thursday, Hon Muruli Mukasa, the Minister for Public Service revealed that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will officiate the opening of this four day conference expected to attract over 700 delegates from all member states.
“AAPAM is for professionals serving in public service all over the African continent , it’s a long organization which started in the early 1960s affiliated to the African Union now. We are lucky that this powerful body is headed by our very own Dr. John Nakabago, the Director in charge of Finance and Administration at Uganda Management Institute (UMI) the position in which he won unopposed in 2022 conference which was held in Cape town South Africa.” Remarked Muruli
The Minister added that this being a very powerful body , entrusting a Ugandan as it’s top head , is a sign of trust and confidence that other people have in the in the Pearl of Africa.
“Very many Professionals are going to be here and we expect them to engage in a number of activities like; exploring Uganda’s natural resources, networking, sharing of best practices as well as exploring a number of investment opportunities available in various sectors.”
Muruli also emphasized it, that this conference is not going to be like the usual ones which always focus of having several lectures by professors, this will involve the exchange of contacts , information and culture.
Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, the head of Public Service and secretary to Cabinet ( President of Uganda Association of Public Administration and Management), revealed that this round table will draw lessons from the previous ones which was held in Zambia, in line with Agenda 2030 and 2063 of African Union that focuses on creating governance system which are both dynamic and robust to secure prosperous future for all Africans.
“It will also address a spectrum of concerns ranging from policy formulation and execution to research and innovation, environmental related challenges faced by the continent. The conference will also equip African Administrators with tools to navigate complexity of modern governance.” added Nakyobe
Dr. James Nkata, the Director General of UMI ,commended Minister Muruli Mukasa, Ms. Lucy Nakyoobe and other key players who have played a significant role towards the successful organization program for the forth coming 43rd Round table conference.
The theme for this year is “Agile and resilient Public Administration for sustainable development in Africa.”
