Kampala, Uganda – The third Uganda-Kenya Coast Tourism Conference is set to take place on November 20-21, 2024, at Speke Resort Munyonyo, in Kampala, Uganda.
The conference, themed “The Uganda-Kenya Coast Partnership: Promoting Job Creation, Inclusivity, and Sustainability,” aims to strengthen tourism ties between Uganda and Kenya’s coastal region.
Over 500 public and private tourism stakeholders from Uganda, Kenya, and beyond are expected to attend the conference, which will feature exhibitions, B2B networking, and a golf tournament.
Uganda’s Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, in collaboration with the Uganda Consulate in Mombasa, is organizing the conference.
“The partnership between Uganda and the Kenya Coast is built on the concept of complementarity,” said a spokesperson for the Uganda Consulate in Mombasa. “We realize that the two destinations have unique, different products that can be jointly promoted.”
The conference seeks to enhance awareness about the complementarity between the two destinations and their tourism products, strengthen synergies between key tourism players, address barriers to promoting regional tourism, and explore investment opportunities in Uganda’s tourism sector.
Ahead of the conference, 70 Kenyan tourism stakeholders will embark on a familiarization trip to Uganda, visiting prominent tourist attractions such as Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Kibale National Park, and the Source of the Nile.
A golf tournament between Uganda and Kenya will take place on November 9, 2024, at Kampala Golf Club.
Prominent speakers, including Uganda’s Minister of State for Tourism, Martin Mugarra Bahinduka, and Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Tourism, John Ololtuaa, will address the conference.
The Uganda-Kenya Coast Tourism Conference has previously been held in Mombasa and Diani, Kwale County, in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The Uganda Consulate in Mombasa, established in 2015/16, promotes trade, investment, and tourism between Uganda and the Kenya Coast. The Consulate was recently awarded the best-performing Mission amongst Uganda’s Missions abroad.
