KAMPALA, Uganda — Uganda Development Bank’s Managing Director, Patricia Ojangole, has been awarded the Sustainability Leader of the Year Award at the prestigious Annual Karlsruhe Sustainable Finance Awards.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Ojangole has won the award, recognizing her exceptional leadership in mainstreaming sustainability and making a recognizable impact.
The award is given to financial institutions and leaders who have successfully embedded economic, social, and environmental sustainability into their organizational culture.
Ojangole was praised for her solid track record in embracing and promoting sustainability, and for gaining respect from her peers and colleagues globally.
“Patricia Ojangole demonstrated a solid track record over the past 12 months in embracing and promoting sustainability and gained respect from her peers and colleagues globally,” said Arshad Rab, Chairman of the International Council of Sustainability Standards for Value-Driven Financial Institutions.
In addition to Ojangole’s award, Uganda Development Bank was also granted the Sustainability Certification for adapting the Sustainability Standards Certification Initiative Version 2.0, at level 5, which is the highest level of compliance achieved.
The certification recognizes UDB’s commitment to creating positive impact on society, the economy, and the environment, and meeting and exceeding the needs of all its stakeholders.
Uganda Development Bank is the country’s national Development Finance Institution, with a mandate to accelerate socio-economic development through sustainable financial and non-financial interventions.
