Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has postponed the release of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results to Tuesday, February 11.
The results were initially expected to be released tomorrow, Friday, February 7. However, sources who attended a meeting between UNEB officials and the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, at State House yesterday, indicate that the First Lady had other commitments set for the same day.
As a result, the release of the UCE results has been pushed to next Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by other top education officials, including Monica Kaducu, the State Minister for Primary Education, and John Chrysestom Muyingo, the State Minister for Higher Education.
UNEB’s Executive Director, Prof. Celestino Obua, and Dr. Dan Odongo, were among the officials who briefed the minister on the exam results.
The UCE results are highly anticipated by students, parents, and educators across the country, as they determine the future academic prospects of students.
Notably, this year’s UCE exams marked a historic shift in the country’s educational framework, as candidates were assessed under the new lower secondary curriculum for the first time. To facilitate a smooth transition, UCE candidates sat for two separate sets of exams: one under the new curriculum and another referred to as the “transition examination.”
UNEB’s theme for the 2024 exams, “Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment,” reflects the board’s commitment to adapting to the changing educational landscape.
The delayed release of the UCE results is expected to provide valuable insights into the performance of students under the new curriculum.
