KAMPALA-As we are left with a few hours to the National Housing and Population census scheduled to start on Friday 10th May 2024, Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) issued clarification on money to be paid to the enumerators.
According to the document (Short term appointment letter) which has been circulating on social media , it was alleging that the Enumerators will be paid a total of fifty thousand shillings (50,000) for the 10 days period.
This issue has been however rectified by Dr. Chris Mukiza , UBOS Executive Director / Commissioner Census in the letter dated 8th May 2023, addressed to addressed to Executive Director and Town Clerks (for cities, Towns Municipalities )
“This is also to notify you that there is an error in the Appointment letters for Enumerators, Enumeration Supervisors, Sub-County Supervisors (two for every sub-County/ Town Council) and District/City officials. The figures indicated in the letters are rates for each day NOT for the entire enumeration period.”
He also asked the concerned officers to correct and counter sign on those letters.
The salaries of the enumerators have been exempted from taxes.
Government declared the 10th May 2024, as a public holiday to enable all people to participate in the census exercise.
