A devastating accident in Namilyango village, Kassanda District, has claimed the lives of 10 people, with several others injured.

According to a statement from the Territorial Traffic Police, the driver lost control of the vehicle on a slope, causing it to overturn, resulting in the instant death of 10 people.

The injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, including Mityana Hospital and Bukuya Health Centre IV, for treatment.

“The scene of the crime has been visited by traffic officers, and the bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to Mityana hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination,” said SP Rachael Kawala, PRO Wamala Region. “The vehicle has been towed to Kassanda Police Station for further inspection, and inquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.”

The police have launched an investigation into the tragic incident, which has left the community in shock and grief. The authorities have promised to provide more details as the investigation unfolds.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims,” added SP Kawala. “We urge drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to avoid such tragic incidents.”
