Kampala, Uganda – Thomas Tayebwa, Uganda’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament, has launched a community radio station in western Uganda, aiming to promote local development and government initiatives.
The state minister for National Guidance, Godfrey Kabbyanga, presided over the official launch of 94.0 Tayari FM in Bitereko Sub-County, Ruhinda North Constituency, Mitooma District.
Tayebwa, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ruhinda North Constituency, said the radio station was established to bridge the information gap in the region and provide a platform for local voices to be heard.
“We want to use this radio station to educate and empower our people, and to promote government programmes and initiatives that benefit our community,” Tayebwa said.
The radio station is owned by Tayebwa and was set up through the Taru Foundation, a local charity.
Kabbyanga praised Tayebwa for his initiative, saying it would help to promote development and good governance in the region.
The launch of the radio station is seen as a significant development in the region, where access to information and communication services is limited.
Residents of Ruhinda North Constituency have welcomed the new radio station, saying it would provide them with a much-needed platform to access information and share their views.
