KAMPALA – Several people are feared dead after a taxi on Friday evening plunged into a subway restaurant along Nile Avenue in the intersection adjacent to Crested Towers, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Offices, Crested Towers and Parliament.
The grisly accident occurred at around 8:00 pm.
By press time, Police and residents were trying to rescue passengers who were still stuck in the mangled taxi that fell into the restaurant.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said the taxi driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed straight into the restaurant.
It’s not yet clear whether there were any people in the restaurant.
This will not be the first accident at the same subway restaurant. In March 2012 more than 10 people were injured after a taxi, they were travelling in lost control and skipped over the brick barricade and plunged into the Subway restaurant.
