Kiwanuka Benedicto Kiwanuka Galiko , long time Democratic Party (DP) member has lashed out a number of Party leaders for flaunting party rules and regulations during the selection of Party flag bearer in the forthcoming Kawempe North by election.

On addressing the press in Kampala, Galiko noted that he has no doubt that Kasaca is a full party member, but the problem is that he was selected from an illegal process.
“Article 69 says that anyone intending to contest for any electoral position on a party ticket, must formally apply to the National Executive Committee (NEC). But currently DP has no operational NEC, we are asking ourselves where did Kasaca’s selection process take place.”
He also pointed out that with the lack of substantive NEC, the approval could have been done by Hon Nobert Mao and Mr. Gerald Siranda , some of the individuals whose leadership is in question.
“Most of the positions at various levels of leadership in the party are vacant because some of the people who were occupying them joined other parties like NUP and others retired from active politics.”

Galiko further added that he is ready to seek another court injunction to stop any other meeting held under the guise of delegates conference without following the set out rules and guide lines of the party.
Last week during their weekly press briefing, Democratic Party unveiled Henry Kasacca as its flag bearer in the upcoming Kawempe North by-election, scheduled for March 13 2025
Kasacca, a member of the Buganda Lukiko and Programs Manager at the Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD).
