NAGALAMA, UGANDA — Police in Nagalalama have rescued 51 individuals from an job recruitment scam operated by AIM GLOBAL ALLANCE, a popular scam networking company.
The crackdown was launched on Wednesday after authorities received reports of people being deceived with false job offers, according to police.
Victims were lured with promises of lucrative employment but were instead coerced into paying 150,000 Ugandan shillings as “training fees” upon arrival, police said. Their phones were confiscated, and they were pressured to recruit more individuals, who were required to pay 1.5 million Ugandan shillings to buy products for resale.
Recruiters promised victims they could earn at least 1 million Ugandan shillings per month through sales and recruitment, police said.
During the rescue operation, police found victims confined in overcrowded rooms across Mukono District.
Fourteen victims were discovered in a cramped space in Kakola village, while 20 others were found living in a single small room in Naggalama A Ward.
Two suspects, Kasule Zephanial and Nantima Evelyn, were arrested and are currently detained at Nagalalama Police Station as investigations continue.
Police are urging the public to remain vigilant against deceptive job offers and report any suspicious recruitment activities.
How AIM Global Alliance scammers steal
AIM Global, a purported multi-level marketing company, has been at the center of a storm of controversy, with allegations of scamming desperate youth swirling around it.
The online presence of AIM Global members is a carefully crafted facade of luxury and success, designed to lure in unsuspecting and unemployed young people.
Their social media profiles on platforms like Facebook and Twitter are replete with images of members posing in style, often outside planes, inside airports, or next to sleek cars, all of which they claim to have acquired through their involvement with AIM Global.
This ostentatious display of wealth is a deliberate ploy to create an illusion of effortless prosperity, enticing vulnerable youths to join their ranks.
The training sessions conducted by AIM Global are an extension of this elaborate show. Speakers, all of whom are members of the organization, take turns addressing the audience, presenting a convincing case for why they should join the network.
These speakers are impeccably dressed, and their words are laced with persuasive promises, further solidifying the notion that AIM Global is a ticket to a life of ease and opulence.
