A distinguished team of Muslim scholars from Saudi Arabia, led by Dr. Sheikh Mohamed Aly Chinqutty, has arrived in Uganda. The delegation includes renowned scholars such as Al Solami Mobaraka Doheki, Mohamed Ahmed Al Asaad, and Alahmad Abdullah.
His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, the 2nd Deputy Mufti, warmly welcomed them upon their arrival at Entebbe International Airport on Thursday, April 10th, 2025. The guests were then driven directly to the UMSC headquarters in Old Kampala for their formal welcome.
The tentative schedule for the visiting scholars includes Sheikh Mohamed Aly Chinqutty delivering the Friday sermon at the National Mosque in Old Kampala on Friday, April 11th, 2025. In addition, the delegation will hold an interactive session with Imams from various mosques across Uganda.
Sheikh Badru Khatwaib Lukalamuko, Chairman of the organizing team, shared that after their visit to Uganda, the delegation will proceed to Rwanda, with their visit concluding in Burundi, where similar programs will be held.
Sheikh Lukalamuko further praised the head of the delegation, describing him as one of the leading scholars in Islamic propagation. He urged the Muslim community to attend the Friday sermon in large numbers as part of the special event at the National Mosque.
Present at the meeting were UMSC officials, including Hon. Hadjis Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi, Secretary General; Dr. Sheikh Ziyadi Swaleh Lubanga, Director of Sharia; Sheikh Imran Ssali, Secretary for Religious Affairs; Sheikh Ali Juma Shiwuyu, Secretary for Hajj & Umrah; Sheikh Abdu-Karim Abdallah Katamba, Director of Halal / Regional Assistant to the Mufti in charge of Ankole-Kigezi; Sheikh Hamid Sserwanda Busungu, the Kampala Regional Assistant to the Mufti; and others.
