KAMPALA, UGANDA – Odrek Rwabwogo, Chairman of the Exports and Industrial Advisory Development Committee, has publicly disowned a group calling themselves “Disciples of Odrek Rwabwogo.”
In a statement released on social media, Rwabwogo denounced the group for attributing a letter to him, addressed to the President, without his permission.
“I read a letter yesterday, supposedly attributed to me by people who call themselves ‘Disciples of Odrek Rwabwogo’. I was deeply hurt,” Rwabwogo said.
Rwabwogo expressed disappointment and concern over the group’s actions, citing a lack of disciplined innovation and poor judgment.
“They seem to want to outdo each other (NRM and opposition youth) in insulting, lying, emotional, and physical violence, and it’s quite difficult to tell the difference,” Rwabwogo noted.
Rwabwogo emphasized his commitment to Uganda’s development, highlighting key priorities such as education, industrial transformation, and exports.
“Let’s focus on what matters for our country: our education system producing more engineers to drive the industrial transformation of our economy, funding infrastructure for exports, and better communication that heals and builds good public conduct,” Rwabwogo urged.
Rwabwogo also referenced the Bible, citing 1 Corinthians 3:5-6, where Apostle Paul cautions against individualizing causes.
“I am, therefore, embarrassed when I see people naming themselves after individuals. If your vision is all about an individual, what kind of future does that vision serve for the greater good of an institution?” Rwabwogo asked.
Rwabwogo had previously denounced the group in October 2021.
This move comes amidst concerns over the polarization of Ugandan politics and the need for constructive dialogue.
