The Kabaka’s homecoming marks a new chapter in his journey to full recovery! As he settles back into his royal duties, the people of Buganda continue to pray for his complete healing and look forward to his vibrant leadership once again.
The Kabaka of Buganda, His Highness Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, returned to Uganda last night after a three-month stay in Namibia, where he received medical treatment and rested. Upon his arrival, members of the royal family, led by Prince Crispin Jjunju, urged the people of Buganda to be patient and respect the king’s privacy as he continues his recovery journey.
In a statement, Prince Jjunju emphasized that the Kabaka still needs time to rest and recover before resuming his royal duties actively. “We ask that the people of Buganda continue to exercise patience and accord ‘Ssabasajja’ with the respect and privacy that he deserves,” he said. “With Ssabasajja back in Buganda, we must say that he’s still on his recovery journey. It is very important that he has time and space to ease back into the full roster of royal duties.”
The royal family also condemned individuals who spread false rumors about the Kabaka’s condition during his stay in Namibia, tarnishing the Namibian government’s name. “We deeply regret and condemn the hateful and disrespectful conduct of these people, which goes against the grain of our well-known and admired customary norms of ‘Obuntu Bulamu’.”
The family expressed gratitude to the Namibian government for their hospitality and praised the country as “beautiful and blessed.” They also thanked Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikkiro of Buganda, and other subjects of the Kabaka for ensuring the smooth continuation of the Kingdom’s duties.
Additionally, the royal family appreciated the medical team and staff who treated and managed the Kabaka’s condition in Germany and Namibia, as well as the government of Uganda, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for their efforts in liaising with the Namibian government.
They thanked the people of Buganda for their continuous prayers and urged them to persist in praying for the king while maintaining patience.
