Quad ball players in Canada through their umbrella (National Gaming Body) Quad ball Canada donated equipments to Elsa Quad ball club to be used in their training.
The donation which included shoes, ball pump and others was greatly welcomed by the beneficiaries.
Mboyira Merissa , Quad ball Junior team captain on receiving the donation revealed that they have been having challenges of training bare footed on a marram pitch but there is hope that the donated shoes will improve their training experience.
“We still have a problem of jerseys which are not enough to the extent that whenever we have a match we hire out from other individuals. We hope that the donated items will enable us to improve upon our performance in the next competitions.”
She added that the game has kept her busy and fit in this holidays and it has motivated her and also built her confidence.
Ssebika Mark Williams also a team captain for the senior players applauded the Canadians for their kind heart and advised all other people to take it as an example and support the less privileged especially in the sports sector.
“Our training experience is going to totally change and now the most challenging issue we have remained with is the training field. We currently train from a murram play ground because it’s the only one which we can afford.”
Ddumba Lawrence the team leader Elsa Africa, says their target now is to get so many equipments that’s is going to help them spread Quad ball in eastern Uganda mostly in schools of jinja district.
“We have already approached schools and all have accepted our request to introduce the game but the main challenge we are faced with is lack of training equipments. We have hope that with support from our partners and friends , we shall be able to get them.”
He further promised to continue extending quad ball to all parts of the country including the remote areas.
