Heifer International’s President and CEO, Surita Sandosham, and Chief People Officer, Eliah Makar, visited Uganda to strengthen partnerships with project beneficiaries.
“I’m excited to be in Uganda for the first time, meeting our team and partners. We’re working on the Stimulating Agribusiness for Youth Employment (SAYE) project, empowering young people in agriculture,” Surita Sandosham said.
“Our goal is to support youth in agribusiness, helping them achieve their dreams by 2030. We partner with organizations across the value chain to provide comprehensive support, from farm to market,” she added.
Sandosham emphasized the importance of business incubation centers, saying, “Governments should promote these centers to streamline youth innovations and job creation.”
At the CURAD Incubation Center, she praised the resources and support provided, stating, “Incubation centers offer crucial resources, mentorship, and a nurturing environment for young entrepreneurs to succeed.”
Heifer International’s Country Director, William Matovu, said, “We’re committed to improving youth livelihoods through innovation, technology, and the SAYE project, targeting 250,000 young women and men in agribusiness.”
Matovu emphasized the need to address gaps in the agribusiness sector, saying, “We must work together to streamline the value chain and create opportunities for youth to thrive.”
