Precious Baba gets her hands dirty for a good cause! Cleaning up the streets and spreading awareness about malaria prevention
Precious Baba, originally born on October 14, 1997, in Akuse, Ghana, has become a beacon of hope in the fight against malaria in Africa.
After completing her high school education in Ghana,
Precious relocated to join her parents in Massachusetts. There, she pursued a degree in criminal justice at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
However, her passion for public health and the alarming rate of malaria deaths in Africa spurred a significant change in her career path. Determined to make a difference, Precious moved to Nebraska to further her education in epidemiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. This move marked the beginning of her journey towards addressing one of Africa’s most pressing health challenges; malaria.
Malaria, a life-threatening disease transmitted through the bite of an infected Anopheles mosquito, continues to claim hundreds of thousands of lives each year, with Africa bearing the highest burden. Motivated by these harrowing statistics, Precious decided to take her expertise to the front lines of the battle against malaria. Her destination; Uganda, a country with high malaria prevalence.
Precious Baba takes action! Joining forces with the community to clean up the environment and make Uganda a healthier place, one step at a time
Upon arriving in Uganda, Precious was warmly welcomed by community leaders, organizations, and schools. She focused her efforts on three particularly vulnerable communities: Katanga, Zana, and Kirimanyaga. These areas were selected due to several pressing issues, including poor waste disposal management, inadequate drainage systems, lack of access to clean drinking water, and a high incidence of communicable diseases. The primary goal of Precious’s campaign was to improve the living conditions and health of these communities. Her initiatives included cleaning the environments, educating residents about proper waste disposal, and promoting access to clean water.
By addressing these fundamental issues, Precious aimed to reduce the prevalence of malaria and other communicable diseases, thereby enhancing the overall well-being of the residents. In addition to the immediate health benefits, Precious’s efforts also sought to empower the community and promote social upliftment. By involving local leaders and residents in her initiatives, she fostered a sense of ownership and responsibility towards maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

Their collaboration and support were instrumental in the success of her anti-malaria campaign. Through her unwavering dedication and tireless efforts, Precious Baba has made a significant impact in the fight against malaria in Uganda. Her work serves as an inspiring example of how one person’s commitment can lead to meaningful change, improving the lives of many and paving the way for a healthier future.
