Kampala police have started on the investigations as 10 witnesses record statements in connection with the death of 23-year-old Martha Ahumuza Murari, who collapsed at Mezo Noir nightclub on Thursday morning.
Detectives believe Martha consumed an alcoholic beverage before collapsing at the popular Kololo-based hangout.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, police are holding the prime suspect and have collected statements from relevant witnesses.
The investigation is ongoing, with police awaiting postmortem and forensic reports before forwarding their findings to the Resident State Attorney.
Preliminary investigations suggest Martha met her friend Edward Mugabo, a cashier at the nightclub, at around 2 am, and they drank together until 3:30 am.
The two then moved to the manager’s office, where Martha allegedly collapsed. Mugabo and his brother Joseph Kalenzi rushed Martha to Kampala Hospital, where she was put on life support and later pronounced dead.
