Ugandan police have arrested Kakaire Yusuf, a man alleged to have posed as a high-ranking military officer and aide to President Yoweri Museveni.
According to a statement from the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Yusuf “falsely claimed to be an army officer working within the Office of the President” and used this fake identity to extort and steal from unsuspecting members of the public.
“We urge members of the public, particularly anyone who may have experienced interactions with this individual or been affected by his alleged actions, to come forward and reach out to our offices,” said ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police.
