KAMPALA, UGANDA — The Uganda National Examinations Board has clarified that it has not confirmed a release date for the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination results, contrary to reports circulating on social media.
The board’s statement comes amid speculation that the results would be released on Friday, January 17, 2025. Sources within the Ministry of Education had initially speculated to this website that UNEB and the ministry had harmonized to have the exam results released on Friday. However, the examinations body has since dismissed this version of events.

When contacted, a source revealed that officials within UNEB failed to secure an appointment to brief the Education Minister Janet Museveni on the performance of learners, hence pushing the release to next week.
The 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations were administered to 798,763 candidates in November last year, marking the end of their primary level education. The candidates, comprising 419,357 females and 379,414 males, sat for papers in English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies.
The Uganda National Examinations Board typically releases the results in January, but the exact date varies from year to year. The board has advised parents, teachers, and candidates to wait for an official communication on the release date.
Once released, the results will be accessible through mobile Short Message Service and via school examination centers. Hard copies of the results will also be available for collection from the board’s offices in Ntinda.
