The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) released the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results, revealing a notable decline in the number of top-performing candidates.
Out of the 798,763 pupils who sat for the examinations across the country, only 448 candidates managed to achieve the coveted 4 aggregates.
In 2023, a total of 713 pupils scored 4 in 4 aggregates in their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
This figure reflects a sharp drop in top-tier performance and aligns with UNEB’s earlier statement that highlighted a general decrease in candidates passing in Division One.
In total, 84,301 candidates passed in Division One, marking a decline compared to the previous year.
The majority of candidates were placed in Division Two, with 397,589 students securing this grade. Division Three followed with 165,284 candidates, while 75,556 were placed in Division Four. However, 64,251 candidates were not as fortunate, as they failed the examinations altogether.
