KAMPALA, Uganda — The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) announced Tuesday that the results of the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) will be officially released on Thursday, January 23.
Minister of Education and Sports Mama Janet K. Museveni will unveil the results at State House Nakasero, marking a significant milestone for the 798,771 candidates who registered for the examination. This represents a 6.6% increase from the 749,254 candidates who sat for the exam in 2023.
According to UNEB Executive Director Dan N. Odongo, the overall performance of candidates in 2024 has improved compared to the previous year.
“The results reflect the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers and parents,” said Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, Principal Public Relations Officer of UNEB. “We are proud to announce that the results will be accessible through various platforms, including SMS and online portals, to ensure convenience and transparency.”
Prior to the official release, the UNEB team, led by Chairperson Prof. Celestino Obua, briefed Minister Museveni and other top officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports on the general performance of the 2024 PLE candidates.
The results will be streamed live on UNEB and Ministry of Education and Sports social media platforms starting at 11:00 a.m. After the official release, candidates, parents, and schools can access the results via SMS by typing ‘PLE’, leaving a space, followed by their full index number, and sending to 6600. For example, PLE 00123/356 send to 6600. The schools will also be able to access the results through their portals, while printed copies will be picked by the respective District/City/Municipal Inspectors of Schools.
