JINJA– Saturday, 05th October 2024, is the day which will never fade in the memories of young people and students who turned up for the first International youth festival held at Across the Nile Resort in the tourism city of Jinja, Eastern Uganda.
The event which was organized by International University of East Africa (IUEA) in partnership with Rosatom and Alliance Brics attracted a large number of young people with majority being University students from Central region mostly Kampala, Higher Institutions of learning from Jinja , not forgetting the overwhelming numbers which came from other African countries and abroad.
Many of the young people from Kampala were greatly excited of getting closer to the Source of the Nile. They had an opportunity to touch the waters of the Nile, take memorable selfies as well as to relax under the cool breeze.
“Am happy that I have got an opportunity to move a long distance away from Kansanga where I stay to this part of Uganda. I studied about River Nile in both my lower and higher level of education, but I had never got an opportunity of seeing it physically as it has happened today.” Remarked a Somali National and student at IUEA.
At the festival, international students and local students from IUEA showcased their fashion and Culture to the audience thus creating an experience to people who had not got an opportunity to know more about the foreign culture.
The entertainment was class , traditional dances , performance from prominent Ugandan artists, Deejays were among the things that gave revelers the best experience.
Eats and drinks were plenty at the venue to ensure that hunger and thirst are not among the reasons that the Party animals may give as those that have stopped them from enjoying the moments.
Students from Kampala enjoyed the trip by travelling by Sightseeing open roof busses which enabled them to see clearly most of the tourist attractions along Kampala-Jinja Highway as well as those in jinja City.
On the other hand, the venue had a well organized camping site with tents ready in a secure environment surrounded by security personnel from both UPDF and the Police.
