KAMPALA, Uganda — Justice Rosette Comfort Kania has taken over the high-profile murder case of businesswoman Molly Katanga, who is accused of killing her husband, Henry Katanga. This development comes after the previous judge, Isaac Muwata, declined to continue hearing the case due to health reasons.
Justice Kania will officially take over the case on February 7, 2025. Her first task will be to hear a fresh bail application submitted by Molly Katanga’s lawyers. The application was made before Court Registrar Festo Nsege, who presided over the matter and adjourned the case to February 7 for a bail hearing.
Molly Katanga has been held in Luzira prison for over a year, after being previously denied bail on the grounds that her trial would be expedited.
However, the proceedings have since been delayed, with 11 prosecution witnesses having testified so far.
