KAMPALA, UGANDA – JANUARY 1, 2025 —The Ministry of Works and Transport has announced that the Nakiwogo-Buwaya Ferry Crossing, which connects Entebbe Municipality to Mpigi District, will be temporarily closed for maintenance starting Monday, January 6, 2025.
According to Bageya Waiswa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, the ferry will undergo scheduled maintenance works for a period of three weeks to ensure its continued safety and reliability. The ferry is expected to resume operations on Monday, January 27, 2025.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to all our esteemed clients and stakeholders,” Waiswa said in a statement.
During the temporary closure, passengers are advised to use an alternative route by road through Kisubi (Entebbe Road), Sissa, Nakawuka, and Kasanje to Buwaya.
The temporary closure is aimed at ensuring the ferry’s continued safe operation and minimizing disruptions to services in the long run.
