Museveni promotes over 900 UPDF soldiers

President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the Commander in Chief of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), has promoted over 900 UPDF soldiers to various ranks.

Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye, Director of Defence Public Information, announced the promotions on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs.

According to Kulayigye, the promotions include 5 Colonels to Brigadier Generals, 3 Acting Colonels to Colonels, 3 Lieutenant Colonels to Colonels, 10 Acting Lieutenant Colonels to Lieutenant Colonels, 10 Majors to Lieutenant Colonels, 63 Acting Majors to Majors, 4 Captains to Majors, 155 Acting Captains to Captains, 650 Lieutenants to Captains, and 918 Second Lieutenants to Lieutenants.

The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and the UPDF fraternity have congratulated the senior and junior officers on their well-deserved promotions and confirmed ranks.

This development is seen as a major boost to the morale of the UPDF personnel and a recognition of their hard work and dedication to serving the country.
