President Yoweri Musei, who also serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), has appointed Major General Don Nabasa to the position of Joint Staff Policy and Strategy in the UPDF.
Maj Gen Nabasa has had a distinguished military career spanning over two decades. He joined the Ugandan army in 1998 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1999.
Prior to his new appointment, Maj Gen Nabasa served as the commander of the UPDF’s third infantry division, headquartered in Moroto. He handed over command of the third Infantry to Brigadier General Wilberforce Sserunkuma as he prepares to take over his new office.
Maj Gen Nabasa’s military career has been marked by various command and staff appointments, including serving as the commander of 2 Special Forces Group. He has also commanded various tactical units and served in key roles such as Military Police commander and UPDF contingent commander in Somalia.
The appointment of Maj Gen Nabasa to the position of Joint Staff Policy and Strategy is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the UPDF’s policy and strategic direction.
