KAMPALA -His Eminence Sheikh Abdallah Ibrahim Ssemambo Tamusuza, the Deputy Mufti, has urged Muslim students to maintain a strong connection with God and uphold discipline to achieve academic success.
This was part of the message he delivered on behalf of His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, during a special prayer session dedicated to candidates preparing to take their final examinations at the Ordinary and Advanced levels.
The prayers took place at Nateete Muslim High School in Lubaga Muslim District in Kampala’s capital city, following the Friday congregational prayers.
Sheikh Ssemambo emphasized the importance of personal responsibility in students’ lives, encouraging them to avoid behaviors such as drug use and promiscuity, which can lead to early marriages, especially among female students.
“The school has fulfilled its role by imparting knowledge to you. Now, it’s your turn to demonstrate that you have indeed acquired the knowledge that has been imparted to you over the years when you pass the exams,” Sheikh Ssemambo remarked.
He also offered prayers to Almighty Allah for the candidates’ success in the upcoming national examinations, which are scheduled to begin early next month. Lastly, he pledged to relay Mr. Ahmed Bagaala, the Head Teacher’s request for the Ugandan Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) to provide the school with additional adjacent land and a land title to facilitate the expansion of school activities.
Sheikh Juma Bakhit Cucu, the UMSC Education Secretary, who delivered the Friday sermon, stressed the unparalleled significance of education and highlighted the key role of discipline in academic success.
“Where there is education, there is growth, and discipline is one of the most critical factors for academic success,” observed Sheikh Cucu. Both Sheikh Ssemambo and Sheikh Cucu commended the School Administration and the Board of Governors for their remarkable efforts in improving the school environment.
Mr. Ahmed Bagaala, the Head teacher, representing the school staff, outlined various achievements, including school infrastructure development and increased student enrollment.
He also emphasized the need for more classroom blocks and additional land to accommodate the growing number of students. Bagaala expressed gratitude to both parents and students for their collaborative efforts on the journey to success.
The event was attended by members of the School Board of Governors, including Haj Juma Kayiwa, the vice Board Chair, Mr. Kateregga Badru Kaggwa, and Madam Hajala Ndayidde. Sheikh Jamir Kassim Ntambi, Lubaga Kadhi accompanied by local Muslim leaders, was also in attendance, along with school staff members.
