KAMPALA — MTN Uganda has announced three key appointments to its executive team, bolstering its commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centric solutions.
Thomas Motlepa, Chief Technology & Information Officer (CTIO), brings over 20 years of experience in telecommunications and technology. His expertise in network optimization, digital transformation, and operational efficiency will drive technological innovations.
Motlepa’s leadership experience spans several MTN markets, including Ghana, Zambia, and Nigeria. Notably, he spearheaded Ghana’s 4G services rollout, significantly enhancing network performance and customer satisfaction. At MTN Uganda, he will ensure the company’s network capabilities remain robust and future-ready.
Franklin Ocharo joins as General Manager of Growth & New Business, leveraging his 18 years of experience in product management, business development, and commercial strategy. Prior to MTN Uganda, Ocharo played a pivotal role at Safaricom PLC, tripling the number of homes connected to fixed data services and introducing converged mobile solutions.
At MTN Uganda, Ocharo’s focus will be on expanding the company’s market reach and developing new business avenues. His expertise in leveraging data analytics and understanding customer needs will be critical in identifying emerging opportunities.
Peace Kabatangare, General Manager of Internal Audit & Forensics, brings over 13 years of experience in internal audit, risk management, and forensics. Previously, she led efforts to strengthen governance and enhance internal controls at New Vision Printing and Publication Company Ltd.
Kabatangare will oversee MTN Uganda’s internal audit and consulting activities, ensuring operations align with best practices in governance and accountability.

MTN Uganda has 20.7 million subscribers, 12.5 million MoMo users, and 8.8 million active data users.
