KAMPALA, Uganda — An online poll conducted by The Kampala Journal has shown overwhelming support for Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, with 77% of the vote. In contrast, Mathias Mpuuga’s new political formation, the Democratic Alliance (DA), has failed to gain traction, with Mpuuga receiving only 4% of the vote.
The poll, which has garnered over 247,000 views, asked participants to choose from a list of candidates, including incumbent President Yoweri K. Museveni and Gregory Mugisha Muntu.
Mpuuga’s struggles to gain support for the DA can be attributed to his recent battles with corruption and moral defeat. His criticism from the National Unity Platform (NUP) and its leader has likely eroded his credibility and support among Ugandans.
Despite these challenges, Mpuuga remains optimistic about the prospects of the DA. He has expressed his commitment to providing a viable alternative to the ruling party and to promoting democratic values in Uganda.
However, the online poll’s results suggest that Mpuuga’s new formation faces an uphill battle in gaining the support of the Ugandan people. As the poll continues to garner attention, it will be interesting to see how the results hold up and what implications they may have for the political landscape in Uganda.
