Mpuuga took to Twitter to condemn the “brutal and high-handed attack” by the police, saying, “Every right-thinking Ugandan must condemn this. We pray for Mr. Kyagulanyi’s quick recovery and demand that the police explain this high-handedness.”

Kyagulanyi was allegedly shot in the leg on Tuesday evening while visiting a prominent city lawyer, George Musisi, in Bulindo, Kira Municipality. He was reportedly intercepted by security personnel, leading to the shooting.

The NUP president was rushed to a nearby health facility before being transferred to Nsambya Hospital in Kampala, where he is currently admitted.

Mpuuga’s call for an investigation has been echoed by other individuals, including Kyagulanyi’s relatives, friends, and supporters. They are seeking an independent probe into the matter.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many Ugandans demanding answers from the authorities.
