MP Zaake several NUP members remanded to Luzira

Wandegeya– Law Development Center (LDC) Magistrates Court has charged Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament with charges of disobeying lawful order and traffic offences.

Zaake and the group who were arrested at National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters on Monday morning have denied all the charges which have been read against them.

These have been remanded to Luzira Prison until Thursday this week when they are expected to appear for their bail application.

Zaake has been remanded with Hon. Kirumira Hassan, Hon. Tebandeke Charles, Comrades Mubiru James, Mukasa Ben Ntale, Kemigisha Sharon, Mungu Brian, Ssemanda Ibra and Nabakooza Shamim who have been charged with participating in unlawful assembly.

Prosecution contends that Hon Francis Zaake on 22nd July 2023 at NUP Headquarters at Makerere Kavule in Kampala District while driving motor vehicle UBD 184 C Nissan Black in color obstructed the road for other road users.

It is also alleged that on the same day, Zaake was found driving a vehicle without a valid driving license.

It is further alleged that on 22nd July 2023 at NUP Headquarters at Makerere Kavule in Kampala District while driving motor vehicle UBD 184 C Nissan Black in color on road refused to stop when signaled to do so by a police officer in uniform.
