KAMPALA, UGANDA – Makerere University has officially released a detailed roadmap leading up to its highly anticipated 75th graduation ceremony, scheduled to take place from January 13 to 17, 2025.

In a circular issued by Academic Registrar Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi, the university outlined key dates and events preceding the milestone ceremony. College and school heads have been directed to display graduation lists on their respective noticeboards, ensuring transparency and accessibility for graduands.

A critical deadline of October 4, 2024, has been set for submission of graduation lists to the Academic Registrar’s office. This will be followed by a special meeting on October 24, where university officials will approve the graduation lists and results.

The first draft of the graduation list is expected to be ready by November 29, while the final graduation booklet will be printed on December 13. Graduands will be required to collect their graduation materials between January 2 and January 10, 2025, ahead of the five-day ceremony.

This significant event will see over 13,000 students from Makerere’s main campus and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) receive their degrees. Notably, the ceremony will be presided over by newly appointed Chancellor Mr. Crispus Kiyonga, who was appointed by President Museveni last month.

While the circular provided a comprehensive outline of the graduation schedule, it did not specify exact dates for individual college ceremonies, a departure from previous practices.

Makerere University’s 75th graduation ceremony promises to be a momentous occasion, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s history.
