Kampala, Uganda – Makerere University has announced that it is accepting applications from diploma holders for admission under the Government Sponsorship Scheme for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Applicants must possess at least a credit or second-class diploma in a relevant field from a recognized institution, as well as a Uganda Certificate of Education with at least five passes and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education with at least one principal pass and two subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting.
To apply, candidates must pay a non-refundable application fee of 50,000 Ugandan shillings, plus bank charges. The application fee must be paid before submitting a system-generated application form to the Admissions Office.
Certified copies of diploma transcripts and birth certificates must be attached to the application forms. Incomplete application forms will not be processed.
The university has set a deadline of February 28, 2025, for returning the system-generated application forms and certified copies of academic documents.
Applicants are responsible for verifying their academic documents from the awarding institutions after admission. Details of the diplomas required for each program can be viewed on the Undergraduate Admissions Notice Board or the university’s website.
Makerere University is one of Uganda’s oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning, offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs.
