Luzira prisons disconected from accesing water

Officials at Luzira prison have admitted being disconected from accessing water by the National Water and sewerage corporation.

A letter signed by Frank Baine Mayanja, the senior commissioner of prisons deputy director who also doubles as the spokes persons of Uganda prison services confirms that on August 13th , the national waters and sewerage corporation disconnected water services to Luzira prisons complex due to outstanding water bill arrears of shillings 18billion.

In the letter, he says this is a matter of national concern. However, the prison is currently utilizing water tanks to mitigate the water crisis.

Meanwhile, the same letter has revealed that negotiations are ongoing between the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Uganda prisons service, and Nationam water to restore the water situtaion to normal.
