
KAMPALA, Uganda — KCB Bank Uganda has announced its sponsorship as the main backer of the Kyambogo Ultra Challenge Run, reinforcing the financial institution’s commitment to promoting health and fitness among Ugandans through sports.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2025, will be held at the Kyambogo University Sports Grounds, starting at 6 a.m.
KCB Bank Uganda has a history of supporting sports initiatives in the country, including rugby, volleyball, golf, and motorsports. The Kyambogo Ultra Challenge Run aligns with its broader goal of encouraging a culture of health and wellness. The event offers participants three distance options: 50 kilometers, 25 kilometers, and 10 kilometers, catering to a range of fitness levels.
Sheila Awori, acting head of marketing and communications for KCB Bank, emphasized the significance of the sponsorship. “Our passion for supporting sports in the country is one of the ways we strive to live up to our brand promise ‘For People For Better,'” Awori said in a statement. “Events like the Kyambogo Ultra Challenge Run have a profound impact on our community. Running challenges individuals, pushes limits, and fosters camaraderie.”
Registration for the run is UGX 50,000 and can be completed through the KCBPay platform. Participants can purchase their race kits by dialing 2449# and using the merchant code 124810. KCB Bank highlighted this integration as part of its efforts to simplify transactions and promote digital inclusion.
“By sponsoring this event, we aim to encourage Ugandans to embrace a proactive approach to wellness, which is essential for a healthier and more productive society,” Awori said. “The Kyambogo Ultra Challenge Run also provides a platform for individuals to prepare for regional and global marathons.”
As part of KCB Bank’s sustainability efforts, every finisher will receive a fruit tree seedling, symbolizing a commitment to environmental conservation. The bank said this initiative allows participants to contribute to greener communities and a more sustainable future.
