KAMPALA– Gen Katumba Wamala , the Minister for Works and Transport applauded ICPAU, Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and USE for promoting financial transparency through financial reporting.
While officiating the 14th edition of the ICPAU Fire Awards 2024 at Serena Hotel Kampala, he congratulated the winners as he emphasized the role of such events in strengthening stakeholder trust, employee motivation, and sustained funding.
“I encourage all of you to invest in government security because it’s a risk free investment. Faces and people may change but government will always remain. There is need to do more sensitization among Ugandans as far as government security bonds are concerned.”
Katumba made this call after having realized that most people including Legislators are not aware of secure investment opportunities.
The General also used this opportunity, to inform the gathering that government through the Ministry of Works is in higher gear of ensuring that the country’s transport network is upgraded to the required standard.
ASP Eddie Ssekanjako , from Exodus Sacco , the second runners up in the category of Cooperative Societies, expressed gratitude to the organizers of these awards for having recognized them among the best Saccos throughout the whole country.
“This achievement is a great milestone which is going to encourage us to come up with a number of new reforms aimed at improving accountability and better services to our members. We are going to focus on new membership of Children and spouses of our members.”
He also added that they have done a lot of bench marking from a number of Saccos across the country.
At this event, a number of organizations and Companies were awarded for their excellence service.
Fire works Awards were held at Serena Hotel in Kampala on Wednesday 7th November 2024 under a theme “Promoting Excellence in Corporate Reporting: Disclosing ESG Performance and Progress”
