KAMPALA-Court of Appeal Justices Irene Mulyagonja, Margaret Tibulya and Moses Kazibwe on Wednesday concluded the hearing of 25 criminal appeals in a session which has been held in Kampala at court of Appeal tower.
Sixteen (16) of the cause-listed appeals were completed, translating into a 64% completion rate.
Of these, eights (08) appeals were allowed, resulting in the resentencing of the appellants. Eight (08) appeals were dismissed.
One appeal was adjourned to enable rectification of the lower court records, while eight (O8) appeals are pending judgment on notice.
This session which has lasted for three days, kicked off on Monday with appellants appearing virtually from Prison.
The appeals aroused from cases which were previously handled by Nakawa, Mubende, Mukono, Kampala , Masindi and Luweero High Court.
In two cases, the state was appealing an acquittal well as in the other cases, it appealed against both sentences and acquittal.
