KAMPALA– The Judiciary administration has operationalized the Registry two of Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Communications and Public Relations.
The Registry of Alternative Dispute Resolution shall coordinate programs in regard to the different innovations currently being undertaken by the Judiciary such as Small Claims Procedure, Mediation and Plea Bargaining.
While the Registry of Communications and Public Relations is intended to manage the Judiciary’s communication function and bolster the Judiciary’s Image as a people-centered institution.
Commenting on the establishments, the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny – Dollo observed that the new Registries will foster the deliberate efforts by the Judiciary to reengineer its services and ensure that Justice is administered efficiently and effectively.
He further stated that a robust communication function is critical in achieving the transformation agenda through increased public awareness of the procedures and processes of the courts and improved image of the Judiciary.
As I said during the National Court Open Day, we must do a lot of sensitization for our people to understand their Courts and the procedures. We shall continue strengthening these Registries so that we achieve our objective.
While releasing the transfers, the Chief Registrar, Her Worship Sarah Langa Siu observed that the transfers are normal in the service and are intended to improve service delivery.
A total of 29 Judicial Officers at the level of Registrars and Magistrates have been moved.
The Registry of Communications and Public Relations will be headed by Ag. Registrar, His Worship James Ereemye Jumire Mawanda, while Her Worship Beatrice Stella Atingu, moves to Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Her Worship Mary Kaitesi who has been the Registrar Planning, Research and Development now takes over the Registry of Magistrates Affairs and Data Management
Additionally, the Commercial Court has been beefed up with two Deputy Registrars and two Assistant Registrars.
