KAMPALA — The trial for the high-profile murder of businessman Henry Katanga has been postponed for the second time this week.
Today, the prosecution was set to continue the cross-examination of their 10th witness, AIP Enock Kanene, a cybercrime analyst who reviewed digital evidence, including CCTV footage and the suspects’ mobile phones.
However, just before the court proceedings were to begin, both the prosecution and defense lawyers were called into the judge’s chambers for a briefing. Upon their return, they were seen collecting their documents, with no clear reason given for the postponement.
Presiding Judge Isaac Muwata announced the adjournment of the trial to November 19, 2024.
Henry Katanga was allegedly shot dead on November 2, 2023, at his home in Mbuya.
His widow, Molly Katanga, along with her daughters, Martha Nkwazi and Patricia Kankwanzi, were subsequently arrested. They are charged along with George Amanyire, a house help, and Charles Otai, a nursing officer.
Molly Katanga has been in custody since February of this year.
