KAMPALA– The Chief Justice, Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny – Dollo presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Ms Grace Atwongyeire, the newly appointed Acting Deputy Registrar. The ceremony took place at the Supreme Court, Judiciary Headquarters in Kampala.
HW Atwongyeire, who took the Oath of Allegiance and the Judicial Oath, was working with the Directorate of Ethics and Integrity before joining the Judiciary.
The Chief Justice congratulated HW Atwongyeire and HW Justine Atukwasa, who has been elevated to Acting Deputy Registrar from Assistant Registrar.
He specifically noted HW Atukwasa’s extensive experience within the Judiciary and encouraged her to leverage her knowledge and continue to excel.
The Chief Justice urged her to familiarize herself with the powers of a Deputy Registrar and to seize the opportunities provided by the judiciary.
To HW Atwongyeire, the Chief Justice highlighted the significance of the oath taken and emphasized the pivotal role of a Deputy Registrar. He encouraged her to always consult with other judicial officers, to be fully engaged in her new role, and to commit to her responsibilities.
The Chief Justice further noted the improved opportunities within the Judiciary and encouraged both Acting Deputy Registrars to work diligently, as their efforts would be recognized.
The Chief Registrar, HW Sarah Langa Siu congratulated the Acting Deputy Registrars, and expressed her optimism about their contributions. She assured them of guidance and mentorship from the Judiciary.
The ceremony was witnessed by HW Patricia Amoko (Private Legal Secretary to the Chief Registrar), HW Lochomin Peter Fred (Personal Assistant to the Chief Justice), and Dr. Ariho Samuel (Brother to HW Atwongire)
